If your installing this PetSafe extreme weather pet door into a wall, you just need to make a tunnel (the same thickness as the wall) out of wood. Then you can cover the wood with carpet, vinyl, or alum. But, we found that a good oil based paint works great when finishing the wall mount extreme weather pet doors. The paint should last for years and is easy to touch up.
